Arrests Made in 2022 Hobart Double Homicide Investigation
HOBART — After more than three years of investigation, the Hobart Police Department has announced charges in connection with the November 2022 murders of Destiny Jackson and Nazirah Muhammad.

On November 4, 2022, officers responded to a welfare check at 418 Ruta Drive, where they discovered two adult women deceased inside the residence. Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds. The scene was secured, and detectives immediately launched an extensive homicide investigation.
According to police, the case involved hundreds of investigative hours and coordination with multiple agencies. Detectives conducted witness interviews, processed physical evidence, and completed detailed digital forensic analysis. Investigators reviewed social media activity, cellphone data, autopsy findings, license plate reader information, and other electronic evidence as they worked to reconstruct the timeline of events.
Authorities also examined communications documenting disputes and alleged threats occurring prior to the killings. Physical evidence recovered at multiple locations — combined with statements, digital records, and corroborated timelines — ultimately provided sufficient probable cause to move the case forward.
On February 17, 2026, the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office formally approved charges against two individuals:
- Amos Daylon Crim, 26, of Gary, Indiana
- Sa Quan Dajon Kirksey, 25, of Gary, Indiana
Both men were arrested February 17 and are charged with two counts of Murder, along with additional counts of Burglary related to their alleged involvement in events surrounding the deaths.
Hobart Police formally recognized Corporal Michael Gallagher, the department’s lead investigator, for his persistence and detailed casework throughout the multi-year investigation. Officials stated his efforts were instrumental in organizing and presenting the evidence necessary to advance the case toward prosecution.
The department also acknowledged the assistance of the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the Lake County Police Crime Laboratory, the Indiana State Police Digital Forensics Unit, and other supporting agencies whose collaboration contributed to the case’s progression.
While authorities say the arrests represent a significant development, they emphasized the lasting impact on the victims’ families. Officials expressed hope that the filing of charges may provide a measure of closure as the matter now moves into the criminal prosecution phase.
No additional details are being released at this time. All individuals charged are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
