Lake County Sheriff Chase Ends On Bishop Ford After Suspects Hit Multiple Squad Cars

A police pursuit from Gary ended shortly after 12pm on the Bishop Ford Thursday afternoon. Lake County Police attempted to pull over a stolen black Escalade near 25th & Grant in Gary before it fled on a wild chase.

The pursuit headed West on 80 after hitting multiple Sheriff squad cars on the ramp to 80/94. While fleeing on 80 the suspect then hit a another vehicle as it entered Illinois in which Lansing Fire Department responded to for possible injuries. Lansing Deputy Fire Chief John Grady told RNS no one was transported from that accident.

Police were able to stop the Black Escalade just North of 130th in Chicago where one suspect was quickly taken into custody and the second suspect fled on foot across the Southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford. He was apprehended a short time later hiding in some tall brush. Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr who was on scene told RNS the suspect hit multiple units during the chase but no officers were believed to be injured.
