Fatal RV Fire In Merrillville Driveway
Merrillville Fire Department responded to a structure fire call around 11:30pm Saturday night. On arrival fire crews found a RV on fire in the driveway of a home on the 5400 block of Georgia St, according to Merrillville Fire Chief Edward Yerga. The fire spread to the home also causing damage. One person was found deceased by emergency personnel in the RV. The Lake County Coroners Office was dispatched to the scene at 12:15am Sunday. The coroners office released a statement saying the have a Caucasian John Doe unknown age. No other information was immediately available.
The fire is under investigation with no signs of foul play by the Merrillville Fire Department and Indiana State Fire Marshall, Yerga stated. Merrillville was assisted by Crown Point Fire, Gary Fire, Lake Ridge Fire, and Superior Ambulance.
UPDATE – Lake County Coroner releases name of the deceased. Jason Morris, 37, of Merrillville.
