17 Year Old Shot In Hammond Flown Out

On May 29th, at approximately 5:09 p.m., Hammond police received a call of a subject shot that was driven to St. Margaret’s hospital, Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police told RNS. Officers spoke with witnesses who stated that the 17-year-old victim was standing in the park area in the 5900 block of Wallace Road with his two friends. They told police that a vehicle drove by and fired a single gunshot from the vehicle. No vehicle or suspect information was available as of 8pm, Kellogg said.

The male victim was flown to a Chicago hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to his neck and is currently in stable condition, Kellogg stated.

Detectives are asking residents in the area if anyone may have video surveillance during this time. If anyone has video, or can provide additional information about this crime, they are asked to call Hammond Police Det. Sgt. James Onohan at 219-852-2997.
