Chicago Man Caught Burglarizing Two Schererville Businesses

On May 31, 2020, approximately 2:40am, Schererville officers responded to an alarm at Liqgo Liquor Store, 1030 US Hwy 41, according to Deputy Chief Jeff Cook of The Schererville Police. Responding officers arrived and observed glass broken out of windows and a male subject standing inside holding a large object.  The man, later identified as COREY DANTE LUNDY, age 26 of the 7900 block of S. Drexel in Chicago, IL 60620.  Lundy saw officers, dropped the object and fled out of the rear of the business, Cook told RNS.  Officers gave chase to Lundy, however lost sight of him as he ran behind a neighboring business.  Shortly after, Officers discovered the front glass window at the AT&T Cellular store;1150 US41 had been broken out as well, police said.  After reviewing surveillance video from both businesses, it was determined that Lundy was involved in both along with another male subject who was not located, Cook states.  Detective Dave Nangle, who was called out to process both crime scenes later located Lundy walking southbound on US 41 wearing the same clothing from both burglaries.  Detective Nangle took Lundy into custody without incident.  Officers were unable to locate the second male subject who was involved.

LUNDY was charged through Lake Superior Court with:

Burglary- Level 5 Felony( TWO COUNTS)

Theft-  Level 6 Felony (TWO COUNTS)

Criminal Mischief- Class A Misdemeanor( TWO COUNTS)

LUNDY is currently in custody at the Lake County jail.
