Hammond Murder Suspect Captured

On October 27th, Hammond Police received a call in reference to shots fired in the 1100 block of 115th Street, Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police said in a release Tuesday morning. 40-year-old Delilah Martinez of Whiting was located in the front yard of a residence. Ms. Martinez had sustained several gunshot wounds and later died from her injuries.

On June 15th, a murder warrant was issued for the suspect who is responsible for the shooting death of Ms. Martinez, Kellogg stated. The same afternoon, the US Marshal’s Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force assisted Hammond Police Department Detectives Webber and Ferry with taking the suspect into custody in Chicago. The identity of the suspect cannot be released at this time due to a sealed order from the court. Hammond Police would like to thank the US Marshal’s Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force for helping them remove a violent suspect from the streets.
