At Least Two Shot At Munster Community Hospital
A developing story from Munster this morning involving what witnesses are describing was an active shooter in Munster Community Hospital overnight. Preliminary info from eyewitnesses are saying at least two people were shot inside the hospital early Tuesday morning. A large multi-agency police presence could be seen around the hospital at 4am including the Lake County Coroner. The incident is believed to have taken place around 1am.

UPDATE – On June 16, 2020, at approximately 1:15 a.m. Munster Police Officers were dispatched to Munster Community Hospital, 901 McArthur Boulevard, about a physical disturbance between a patient and staff, according to Munster Police Lt. John Peirick. Prior to the officer’s arrival they were advised that “shots” had been fired.
Once on scene officers located two deceased subjects inside of the hospital, both of which had sustained fatal gunshots wounds, Peirick states. The Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force was contacted,and they will be assisting the Munster Police Department in the investigation.
A Retired Lake County Sheriff Officer who was working security at the hospital was shot fatally.
