Shooting On Dan Ryan Monday Morning
Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting which occurred on Monday, July 13, 2020, at approximately 2:36 a.m.on Interstate 94 southbound (locals) at 51st Street.
ISP Officers were at a local area hospital reference an earlier crash that occurred on the Interstate. While at the hospital, ISP officers learned a shooting had occurred on Interstate 94 southbound (locals) at 51st Street and the victims of the shooting, relocated to the same hospital for treatment. The driver, a 27-year-old male from Chicago, and female child rear seat passenger of the victim vehicle did not sustain any injuries. The female front seat passenger of the victim vehicle sustained nonlife threatening injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle also traveling on Interstate 94 southbound at 51st Street. At approximately 3:47 a.m., all southbound (local) lanes on Interstate 94 were closed for the investigation with traffic diverted off at 47thStreet. At approximately 8:05 a.m., all southbound lanes on Interstate 94 at 51st Street were reopened. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
