Over 6 Thousand Without Power After Morning Storms
Outage Update at 11 a.m. CT July 19, 2020
Storm conditions in northern Indiana this morning have caused outages in NIPSCO’s service area. NIPSCO crews are working to assess damage, make necessary repairs and restore power as safely and quickly as possible. Currently, approximately 6,600 customers are affected, with the Dyer, Griffith, Highland and Munster communities seeing the most reported outages. NIPSCO is currently closely watching weather patterns for this afternoon, as there is a potential for additional storms in the area.
An estimate on when power will be restored is not able to be determined at this time.
Due to some planned weekend maintenance on their systems, the text and online outage reporting tools are not available. NIPSCO apologizes that they are currently experiencing a longer than usual wait time to talk to a customer care representative.
NIPSCO stated, they understand that any service outage is an inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding during our restoration efforts.
