Lake County Health Department Recommends Masks
The Lake County Health Department is now recommending masks should be wore across all of Lake County with the exceptions of Gary & East Chicago who have their own Health Departments but have already implemented their own mandates. This is a Public Health Order which takes effect July 20th.
All face coverings should be worn to cover the mouth and nose according to the order in all enclosed public places and enclosed places of businesses. Any business establishments open to customers should make hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol available at entrances and high touched areas. Furthermore it states that the coverings should be used at all times where social distancing of 6ft or more can not be done. All businesses open to the public should have customers comply with this order.
When engaged in outdoor activities including parties or private gatherings (other then individuals from the same household) should maintain a distance of 6ft from each other and are not required to wear a mask unless the group is larger then 25.
Exceptions to this but not limited to are people with trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance, and children under the age of 2.
