Porter County SWAT Assists Porter PD

Porter County SWAT was called out to assist the Porter Police Department Tuesday around 11am for a reported known man with a gun at a residence, according to police reports.

Porter Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Woodlawn Ave for a known individual to the complainant who entered a residence where he already had a Protective Order issued which did not allow him on the property after a Domestic Battery incident in December of 2019. Porter & Chesterton Police arrived and could not make contact with the man in the house after several attempts a report states. Police were made aware he was the only individual known to be in the residence at the time. Due to the nature and threat of a weapon Porter County SWAT was called in to assist.

A perimeter was established and the suspects phone was pinged in the area of the residence, a police report stated. SWAT Commanders were made aware the suspect had contacted his attorney to negotiate a surrender, which in turn the suspect now identified as Nathaniel Jorden surrendered and was taken into custody without incident at 1:40pm. A 9mm handgun was found inside the residence belonging to Jorden.

Jorden was taken to Porter County Jail on charges of Invasion of Privacy. This is Jorden’s second charge of Invasion of Privacy concerning this Protective Order with the first being April 2, 2020.
