Two Shot, One Dead After Gas Station Altercation
On August 22, 2020 approximately 3:10 AM Gary Police Officers responded to the area of 4500 Broadway in regards to a gunshot victim, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of The Gary Police. Upon arrival officers discovered a verbal altercation between several males had turned violent and shots had been fired. Two males were shot during the altercation; one male black, 29-years-old from Gary, was declared deceased on scene. The second male black was transported to an area hospital by another party suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, Westerfield stated.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Rayvon Harris, 29, of Gary. The Coroner as listed the cause of the death as multiple gun shot wounds and ruled it a homicide.
Investigators are seeking the identity of the suspects and any witnesses from the area. Pictured are suspects and vehicles from the scene.
