One Shot On 5th Driving Causing Crash
Around 11AM Saturday a vehicle was shot driving down 5th Ave in Gary near the corner of Rutledge. A 18 year old man was hit by the gunfire in a White Pontiac that had numerous bullet holes on the drivers side. A female also in the vehicle stated they had just come from the gas station when a black vehicle began firing at them for unknown reasons. The Pontiac then crashed into the back of a parked vehicle before coming to a stop.
The victim was transported to Northlake in critical condition before being airlifted to an Illinois Trauma Center. 5th Avenue remained closed at 2pm.
