Schererville Police File Murder Charges From April Case
On April 2, 2020 Schererville Police and Fire Department responded to a death investigation call at an apartment in the 2100 block of Meadow Lane, according to Police. While at the scene, it was learned the deceased was a 46 year old female named Michelle Brown, who resided in the apartment with her boyfriend.
It was immediately evident Michelle’s death came with suspicious circumstances and detectives began an investigation. A subsequent autopsy conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s office showed Brown’s immediate cause of death was massive head injury due to blunt force trauma to her head and was officially ruled a homicide. Through investigation, detectives gathered information that Brown and her boyfriend, Paul Edward Jarosik, age 36 resided together in the apartment and were described to have a volatile relationship, police said. Detectives received information from friends of Brown that she had confided in them that Jarosik was physically abusive and had beaten her multiple times when they argued, often slamming her head into kitchen cabinets and the refrigerator. Medical reports show Brown’s head had many injuries, some appeared to be weeks old and some less than twenty four (24) hours old, indicating that Brown sustained several different blows to the head over time ultimately causing her death.
On December 17, 2020 Paul Edward Jarosik was charged in Lake Superior Court with one (1) count of Murder for the death of Michelle Brown. Schererville detectives arrested Jarosik at his residence as he returned home from work in the early morning hours of December 18, 2020. He is currently lodged at Lake County Jail.
The Schererville Police Department offered their condolences to the family and friends of Michelle Brown, it’s their hope that the arrest of Paul Jarosik will provide some relief to them.
