East Chicago Police Investigating Shooting

East Chicago Police are investigating a shooting that took place on 139th & Elm around 9:30pm Monday. At least one person was transported to St. Catherine’s in serious condition from gun shot wounds. Multiple parked vehicles were hit by gunfire stretching down two separate blocks as neighbors in the area told RNS they heard, “what sounded like firecrackers, at least 15 of them.” Police could be seen marking multiple shell casings laying in the middle of Elm St.

East Chicago Police weren’t immediately available for comment late Monday as the investigation was still ongoing. We will update with the latest in the morning and victims status.
