Illinois State Police Arrest Chicago Heights Police Officer

On Jan. 29, 2021, Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 1 officials arrested Ali K. Fara, a 42-year-old male of Chicago Heights, IL for Official Misconduct (Class 3 Felony) and Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm (Class 3 Felony).

On Sept. 14, 2019, ISP DCI Agents initiated an investigation at the request of the Chicago Heights Police Department after receiving information Fara had allegedly battered and caused injury to a handcuffed juvenile arrestee.

On Jan. 29, 2021, after a thorough investigation, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Law Enforcement Accountability Division (LEAD) approved two felony charges against Fara. Fara was taken into custody without incident and released on a $100,000 recognizance bond.

The investigation is currently open and ongoing, no additional information is being released at this time, police said.
