A Domestic Related Robbery Ends With Suspect Shot & Killed Saturday In Hammond
On June 1, at approximately 3:20 AM, the Hammond Police Department responded to an incident that appears to be a domestic-related robbery at an apartment in the 600 block of 169th, according to Hammond Police.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a male subject forcibly entered the apartment with a firearm and attempted to rob the residents. During the incident, a physical altercation occurred among individuals present in the apartment and the apartment resident discharged his firearm, resulting in the death of the armed subject.
During the incident, another individual sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being transferred to a Chicago hospital.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene, detained the shooter, and recovered the firearm used in the incident. Multiple witnesses were interviewed, and one individual was arrested for their involvement in the attempted robbery.
The investigation is ongoing, all pertinent evidence has been collected, and the scene has been cleared.
