A Woman Was Killed and Another Man Shot Friday In Gary
On June 29, 2024, at approximately 1:15 AM Gary Police Department received a call for service reference a possible gunshot victim in the 700 block of Clay Street Gary, Indiana.
As officers responded to the area, they received several more calls advising that there were still shots being fired near the gas station located at 4900 Melton Road, in Gary.
Officers arrived in the area and located several shell casings in 4900 block of Melton Road. As officers continue to search the area they located a vehicle in a yard, located in 600 block of Clay Street. Officers located the caller who advised his girlfriend had been shot inside the vehicle. The female a 25 year old female from Gary, was removed from the vehicle by Gary Fire Department and transported to Methodist Hispital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The male caller advised he was at the gas station when an unidentified male in the picture pulled out a handgun and began firing at him. He advised he fled the area on foot and the male continued firing at the vehicle where his girlfriend was driving. He advised his girlfriend took off in the vehicle as she was being shot at and that is where police located her on Clay Street with the gunshot wound.
Another call for service reference a second GSW came into dispatch and officers located a second victim in the 4900 block of Melton Road. The male had sustained a GSW wound to the abdomen area. He was identified as a 24 year old male from Hobart. He was transported to Methodist Northlake for his injuries.
