Another State Trooper Struck By Vehicle In The Region
Around 4 AM Sunday morning an Indiana State Trooper was struck by a vehicle (Buick Lucerne) at the Eastbound 1.7 mile marker between Calumet & Indianapolis exits on 80/94. This is the third trooper to get hit in three weeks here in the Lowell District, according to Sgt. Glen Fifield who posted on social media.
Preliminary information at this time is that a Trooper was working an accident scene when a vehicle struck his squad car then struck him after he was setting up road flares. The female suspect did stop and is currently in custody pending toxicology results.
The Trooper and the suspect were both taken to area hospitals with what is believed to be non-life threatening conditions. Indiana State Police will be releasing more details on this incident this afternoon. Check back for updates.
