Armed Robbery At Hammond Gas Station

The Hammond Indiana Police Department is actively investigating a string of gas station criminal incidents that have occurred in recent weeks, with the latest occurrence taking place last night.

At approximately 10:15 PM, a light-skinned black or hispanic male in his early 20’s entered the Mobil Gas Station located at 1440 Indianapolis Blvd. armed with a gun. The suspect proceeded to demand money from the registers and additionally instructed the clerks to hand over cigarettes. The suspect made off with a white garbage bag containing a quantity of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount in cash. Before fleeing the scene on foot, the suspect ordered the clerks to lay on the floor.

“The Hammond Indiana Police Department is working diligently to apprehend the individual responsible for this crime. Investigators are currently reviewing security footage and collecting evidence to aid in the identification and apprehension of the suspect” said Lt. Kellogg.

Police Chief William Short stated, “The safety and security of our citizens is our top priority. We will not tolerate criminal activities that threaten the well-being of our community members.”
