Around 14k Without Power After Icy Storm

A wintery mix of sleet and rain has caused elevated electric power outages across Northern Indiana. NIPSCO crews are working to assess damage, make necessary repairs and restore power as safely and quickly as possible. As of 4PM approximately 14,000 customers are affected across the area. No timeline is being given on repairs at this time.

National Weather Service Chicago has been getting reports anywhere from .25 inch to .37 totals of freezing rain across the area. This should be turning into snow as we move through the evening hours. The next snow event is anticipated for Saturday night with areas most likely seeing around an inch.
