Assistance Requested – Fatal Hit & Run Vehicle
On December 27, 2023, at approximately 7:12 AM, a Hobart Police officer on routine patrol discovered the body of a male laying on the embankment off the side of the road in the 6700 block of East 37th Avenue, according to Hobart Police. This location is between Northridge Drive and North Lake Park Avenue near the Deep River Bridge.
Police believe the male had been walking along the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. The vehicle that struck the man then fled the scene.
Police have identified the deceased male as a 59 year old Lake Station man, but are withholding release of his name until next of kin can be notified.
Police are looking for a gray in color 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey. This vehicle should have passenger side damage. The scene investigation was handled by the South Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team.
