ATV Rider Airlifted In Portage
Sunday evening at approximately 7:00pm officers responded to the Portage High School in reference to a report of a 53 year old male who was thrown from from an ATV that he had been riding in the west soccer fields, according to a Portage Police Department Press Release. The rider sustained multiple injuries to include head trauma, Police said. The patient was treated by Portage Fire Department personnel until the arrival of Lutheran air medics who transported the rider to an area trauma center.
At the time of the crash the rider was wearing only a pair of swim trunks. Portage Police want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that driving off road vehicles on public property is illegal within the city limits. Police also encourage the use of appropriate safey gear such as helmets, gloves, and riding boots when operating these vehicles.
