Bakers Square Closes Multiple Locations

The popular eatery and pie restaurant has closed multiple locations including Lansing & Merrillville abruptly this week. Some patrons found out this week when going to visit with a sign taped on the doors stating this location is permanently closed. The Schererville location is believed to remain open. Company spokesman stated “After careful consideration, we have made the tough but necessary decision to discontinue operations at the Lansing location. This is never an easy decision to make but based on many business factors.” It was also noted all employees will be moved to other locations or provided a severance package.

  1. Company filed for bankruptcy. All Baker’s Square will soon close. It’s a pretty crappy way to let their employees know that they’re unemployed.

  2. Love their pies – oh no! I order their fresh raspberry whipped cream pie every summer for my birthday. I guess that isn’t enough to keep them in business. I do go there once or twice a year to eat.

  3. One of our favorite restaurants … CLOSED!. Say it isn’t so! On our way to almost everywhere with a menu and staff meeting all requirements. On our way home from Chicago after driving to and from ORD. There are no comparable restaurants close by. Our family is very upset!

  4. They abruptly closed the Joliet Illinois location, leaving many long time employees without jobs and little to no notice. I will no longer eat there, which I did about twice a month.

  5. First the one in Niles, now the one in Vernon Hills. Where will we get our favorite pies?
Employees are always the last to know, it’s that way in every Corporation.

    1. Very sad news. On Sunday I would go to Church and then to Bakers Square for Breakfast. The waitress would always know I wanted the small booth as it was just me. I will really miss the restaurant.

  6. Bakers Square is the best pie making store around, and this includes all bakeries. No one compares! it’s so sad to see this happening, I guess this will be the end of my pie eating. I frequented store often,to eat and also take home a pie, you’ll be missed!
