Bicyclist Hit By Car In Schererville Friday
On Friday July 12, 2024, at approximately 7:15 PM, Schererville Police and Fire were dispatched to 73rd Ave and Burr St in regards to a vehicle vs bicycle accident, according to Schererville Police.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a male subject was riding a bicycle southbound on the bike path, crossing 73rd Ave, when he was hit by a white 2013 Toyota pickup truck that was traveling westbound on 73rd Ave.
The driver of the truck remained on scene and was cooperative. The male on the bicycle was transported to a local hospital but passed away from his injuries later that evening, police stated.
The South Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team was called out and are handling the investigation.
The bicyclist has been identified as Donald Seitzinger, 68, of Crown Point.
