Body Discovered In Griffith By Hunters
UPDATE – Lake County Coroner David J. Pastrick is informing the public today that a positive identification has been made by a Forensic Odonatologist of the remains found on October 22nd off of Cline Ave and 80/94 in a wooded swamp area.
The deceased has been identified as Dushawna Glover, 48, of Merrillville formerly of East Chicago. Glover went missing on May 16, 2020 when she was believed to have walked off from a group home. The search was called off numerous times initially after attempts failed due to weather and flooding. The investigation is still pending decedent with the Forensic Anthropologist at UINDY for further examination.
Pastrick thanked the continued efforts & assistance during multiple searches from the Lake County Sheriff Dive Team, Griffith Police, Indiana DNR, Dr. J.W. Cahillane Forensic Odonatologist, Dr. Krista Latham Forensic Anthropologist and the family of Miss Glover.
Early Saturday morning, 10/22/2022, a pair of duck hunters located what is believed at this time to be a partial human skeleton in a swamp area near Cline Ave & River Road in Griffith, according to Indiana Conservation Officers.
Indiana Conservation Officers and Griffith Police are investigating this discovery. Assisting on scene is Lake County CSI and Lake County Sheriff Dive Team members.
The Lake County Coroner arrived on scene and has not made identification.
Update – Following many hours of searching, many skeletal remains were recovered, Lake County Coroner David Pastrick said. “Based on my experience and the condition of the remains, it appears the decedent passed away 6 months or longer, and a lot of time has passed since the occurrence.”
The assisting departments Griffith Police Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) , DNR Dive Team, Lake County Sheriff Department, Lake County CSI and Lake County Dive Team led by Chief Vince Balbo.
“On Monday, October 24, 2022, our Forensic Pathologist will examine remains, and the Coroner will be in contact with a Forensic Odonatologist and Forensic Anthropologist for a more extensive exam,” Pastrick stated.
