Body Found In Garage Fire Monday, Investigation Underway
The Lake County Coroner was dispatched to the scene of a garage fire that occurred around 10AM Monday morning at 302 E. 43rd Ave in Gary, according to a release.
Gary Fire officials extinguished a a fully involved garage fire at above location and discovered a body inside. Gary Police sent out detectives along with Lake County Metro Homicide Detectives. Lt. Dawn Westerfield of the Gary Police only said at this time a death investigation is being conducted. The Lake County Coroner has the body identified only as a Jane Doe at this time. Indiana State Fire Marshal, Lake County CSI, and Indiana Department of Homeland Security were all present on the scene according to the Coroner. No further information was available Monday evening.
