Boys & Girls Club Hosts “Christmas to Remember” for Over 500 Children

More than 500 children were treated to an evening of holiday joy Thursday as the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana hosted its annual Christmas to Remember celebration in Merrillville.

Young people ages 5 to 18 spent the night opening gifts, meeting Santa and other special guests, crafting holiday creations, and enjoying a pizza party. Each child received a personalized gift bag filled with winter necessities including coats, boots, hats, and gloves, along with toys suited for all ages.

Region News Source had the chance of speaking to the owners of “Werner’s Christmas Wonderland” who are huge supporters of this event. They donate 1000’s of toys to this event each year that they collect from donation boxes throughout Northwest Indiana as well as at their Christmas light display at 9108 Morton Street in Merrillville.

Organizers described the evening as a heartwarming success, noting the excitement and gratitude shared by children, families, volunteers, and staff. The organizers have been doing this since 2018 and each year it continues to grow.

The Boys & Girls Club extended its appreciation to community members, sponsors, and the hundreds of volunteers whose generosity and hard work brought the holiday celebration to life. This created a night filled with festive spirit, laughter, and memories to last well beyond the season.
