Brand New Raptor Truck Stolen During Delivery Recovered By Munster Police
On September 10, 2024 around 10 PM, Munster Police received notification that a possible vehicle with stolen North Carolina dealership plates was approaching the area, according to court documents.
Within minutes Munster’s Crime Suppression Unit located the vehicle at Speedway in the 400 block of Ridge Road. Police were able to detain the lone driver quickly while he was at a gas pump and then confirmed the plates were indeed stolen out of Georgia. The driver declined to comment on the plates or the Ford F150 Raptor he was driving. Further investigation by police showed the vehicle had no reported owner ever.
The brand new vehicle with a production date of 8-27-2024 in Michigan was scheduled to be delivered to a dealership in Canada via rail on September 9th but never arrived and was not reported stolen at the time it was found. The dealership reported the vehicle has a value of $112,000 and must have been stolen sometime during the transport process.
The driver now identified as Bryan Angelo Thompson, of Orland Park, Illinois also had a prior charge for Auto Theft out of Cook County in 2017. Thompson was placed under arrest and charged with Auto Theft with a prior conviction a Level 5 Felony and Theft over 50k a Level 5 Felony.
