California Woman Facing Cocaine Dealing Charges in Indiana After Interstate Stop
A California woman is facing serious legal trouble in Indiana after a highway traffic stop led to the discovery of several kilos of cocaine and marijuana.
Angela Rice, 54, of Chino, California, was pulled over on March 31, 2020, while traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 30 in Porter County.

According to court documents, a police officer initiated a stop on a rented Audi SUV after observing it cross the fog line and drive on the rumble strips. Rice, the driver, reportedly smelled strongly of burnt marijuana and had green leafy particles on her lap. She also provided a rental agreement showing a return in Los Angeles, despite stating it was due in Detroit.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, officers located a blue backpack containing approximately 300 grams of marijuana and a suitcase with three brick-shaped packages of cocaine weighing around eight pounds (3 kilos).
During a recorded exchange after the stop, Rice could be heard referencing the marijuana and questioning whether the cocaine was in the suitcase. She later denied any knowledge of the drugs during a police interview.
Charges were filed on February 10, 2025.
Charges Filed:
• Dealing in Cocaine (Level 2 Felony) – more than 10 grams
• Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor)
Angela Rice was formally booked into the Porter County Jail on July 6, 2025, in connection with the pending felony and misdemeanor charges.
