
Car Full Of Women Shot At Near Gary Gas Station Wednesday
On April 30, 2025 at approximately 1:22 AM, Gary Police Officer D. Briggs Jr. was driving in the area of E. 21st Avenue & Broadway when a group of females in a 2021 Gray Toyota Rav began yelling and waving to him for help, according to Gary Police. As Ofc. Briggs pulled up to their vehicle the driver of the Toyota sped away from him. Ofc. Briggs began pursuing the vehicle which ended up going to Northlake Methodist Hospital.
At the hospital five females exited the car yelling for help. The ladies said that their friend had been shot. Ofc. Briggs spoke to the victim, a 20-year-old Gary woman. The victim stated that she and her friends were driving in the area of 3400 Malcolm X Drive and came to a stop in the roadway as they decided whether or not to visit a nearby gas station for drinks. As they were stopped the victim states a male in black clothing exited the gas station, drew a gun and began shooting at them. Realizing that she had been shot, the victim and her friends rushed to the hospital.
Neither the victim nor her friends claim to know the shooter. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her right leg. The Toyota was struck several times, and the back window was shattered.
