Carjacked Vehicle Found Near Hobart Shooting
On Saturday, November 6, 2021, at approximately 12:36 AM, Hobart Police officers were dispatched to Lady Bug Cleaners at 3201 West 37th Ave for an attempted robbery and gun shot victim, according to Hobart Police.
It was learned through investigation two males approached a 50 year old Merrillville man as he sat in his vehicle outside the cleaners. One suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim exit his vehicle, police told RNS. The victim exited and was shot in his leg when he attempted to fight back with the suspect. One of the suspects may have been injured and they ran off. Both suspects are at large at this time, Hobart Police said. Officers also located a vehicle stolen during a recent carjacking in Merrillville at the scene.
The two suspects were described as black males, approximately 18 to 20 years old, and wearing dark clothing and masks.
The victim was subsequently treated at a local hospital and released. Hobart Police were assisted by the Lake County Police CSI Unit and Hobart Fire Department. Anyone with information contact the Hobart Police Investigation Division at 219-942-1125.
