Cedar Lake Police Arrest Felon With A Gun Attempting To Flee
On Thursday. October 21, 2021 while on patrol near 133rd Ave and U.S. 41, Cedar Lake Officers observed a Jeep Cherokee with Illinois Registration in the lot of BP Amoco. Officers observed the vehicle drive around a vehicle waiting to pull onto 133rd Ave, disregarding the stop sign, according to Cedar Lake Police Chief William Fisher.
A Cedar Lake Officer made a stop on the vehicle at 119th Ave and U.S. 41. While speaking with the suspects, one suspect took off running from officers. While being chased, the suspect doubled back, getting back into the Jeep Cherokee and attempted to flee in the vehicle, Fisher stated.
The vehicle was disabled by officers and the suspect in the vehicle was taken into custody. In the suspects waist band a loaded handgun was recovered. The suspect was found to be a convicted felon and charges will be filed, Fisher said. The second suspect was also taken into custody for resisting law Enforcement.
Both suspects were lodged at the Lake County Jail. Cedar Lake was assisted by St. John and The Sheriff’s Department. No names have been released pending charges and the case is ongoing with further charges expected.
