Cell Phone Robbery Leads To Teen Death In Lynwood

Lynwood Police said a teen was shot and killed after a cell phone robbery on the street near Lynwood Skating Rink.

The shooting occurred shortly before 7pm on the side of the street on the 2000 block of Glenwood Dyer Road and did not involve the skating rink.

Lake County Coroner identified the deceased as 19 year old Diondre Crosby-Nelson, of Lynwood who came to the parking lot of the Lynwood Skating Rink to buy a phone from Jonathan Arroyo-Ortiz of East Chicago Indiana. Crosby took the cell phone after robbing Arroyo and a female passenger from Munster. Crosby ran with it across the street from the roller rink in a grassy area when Arroyo fired several shots hitting Crosby in his buttocks, back, and head. Crosby succumbed to his injuries at Franciscan Dyer. Arroyo is in custody with pending charges.

  1. This is insane. Our youth have taken violence to a new level. Pointless killing over something worth less than one hundred dollars.

    Senseless killing What a waist of young lives !!

  2. Sadly now a murder charge as the robber was running away. Secondly, shooter from Indiana and Illinois doesn’t honor our carry permit (if he had one).
