Charges Filed In Bank Robberies
On Friday, Ronnie Adams Jr. a 29 year old resident of Gary was charged with one count of armed robbery, a level 3 felony, according to St. John Police Spokesman Roger Patz. St. John Police allege that Adams robbed Fifth-Third Bank in St. John on Tuesday, January 19th, while armed with a handgun.
During the robbery, Adams allegedly jumped over the teller counter demanding the bank staff to open all of the cash drawers and he grabbed $3,113.oo in cash before jumping back over the counter and leaving the bank, Police said.
Detectives learned that the Fifth-Third Bank in Demotte, Jasper County was robbed the following day, by a suspect matching the description of the St. John robbery suspect. A short time later, the suspect was taken to custody in Porter County after a high-speed pursuit.
At this time, the suspect remains in custody at the Jasper County Jail.
