Charges Filed In Griffith Robbery
On March 18, 2024, at approximately 7:14 AM, Griffith officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at a gas station located in the 800 block of N Broad Street, in Griffith.
Upon arrival, officers secured evidence, including eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage. Utilizing this information alongside other technological evidence, officers swiftly located the suspect vehicle and apprehended Rayshawn Vorice at a hotel in Hammond. A subsequent search of the hotel room, authorized by a warrant, led to the discovery of a firearm and US currency. Vorice was transported to the Lake County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
The case was presented to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. Rayshawn Vorice, aged 21, of Gary, was formally charged with Armed Robbery (Level 3 Felony) and Possession of Cocaine (Level 6 Felony).
