Merrillville Police Detective Vasel presented charges to the Lake County Prosecutors Office in reference to the shooting at the Economy Inn on 5/27. The suspect by the name of Corey Jule Collins Frith Jr. of Gary was charged with the following :
Aggravated Battery – Level 3 Felony
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon – Level 4 Felony
Battery By Means Of A Deadly Weapon – Level 5 Felony
Battery Resulting In Seriously Bodily Injury – Level 5 Felony
Criminal Recklessness – Level 6 Felony
Mr. Frith is currently in custody at The Lake County Jail
