Chesterton Man Killed In Hammond Robbery Gone Bad
On May 31st, at approximately 10:08 p.m., Officers responded to the 4700 block of Cedar Ave. in reference to a male who was on the ground, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police. Officers arrived and located 35-year-old Neil Worley, of Chesterton. Mr. Worley stated that he was in a vehicle with three subjects when the subjects robbed him and took his cell phone, Kellogg stated. Mr. Worley was transported to St. Margaret’s hospital for injuries he sustained when thrown from the vehicle. Hammond Police told RNS this was nothing to do with any civil unrest that was occurring around the area.
Early this morning, Hammond Police were notified that Mr. Worley died from his injuries at the hospital. Detectives are investigating the crime as a robbery and ask that anyone in the vicinity of the 4700 block of Cedar that may have unusual activity on video surveillance between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 pm on May 31st, to call Det.
