Chicago Man Charged With Multiple Narcotic-Drug Dealing Offenses In Hammond
A 46 year old Chicago man, Mario A. Hancock, has been charged in Lake County after investigators documented two separate heroin–fentanyl transactions in Hammond earlier this month and later recovered additional individually packaged narcotics during his arrest and booking.
According to the affidavit, investigators documented that Hancock met with an individual in early November 2025 in the area of Gostlin Street in Hammond. After that encounter, detectives recovered twelve individually packaged baggies weighing 5.10 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for heroin and fentanyl.
A second meeting was arranged for later in the month at the same general location. Before that exchange occurred, Hancock arrived at the scene in a silver Dodge Caravan. Based on information gathered during the earlier incident, investigators detained Hancock and transported him to the Hammond City Jail for processing.
During the booking process, staff located a folded white paper concealed in Hancock’s groin area. Inside were twelve individually packaged baggies weighing 4.6 grams that field-tested positive for heroin and fentanyl. Investigators also reported locating $1,967 in U.S. currency on his person. According to the affidavit, the number of baggies, the individual packaging, and the amount of currency recovered were consistent with possession with intent to deliver.
A criminal-history search documented that Hancock has prior controlled-substance convictions out of Cook County, including a 2001 conviction for Manufacturing/Dealing in a Controlled Substance and a 2013 conviction for Manufacturing/Dealing Heroin.
