Community Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Receives Nurse of Distinction Award
Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing and the IU Alumni Association Kokomo Region have recognized Community Hospital’s Ronda McKay with a Nurse of Distinction award. The award recognizes the life-changing work IU Kokomo’s nursing graduates are doing, and motivates future nurses still on campus.
McKay serves as chief nursing officer and vice president for Patient Care Services at Community Hospital in Munster. Under McKay’s leadership, the nurse fellow and nurse residency programs have flourished at the hospitals of Community Healthcare System.
“I couldn’t be happier to present this award to Ronda,” said Susan Hendricks, dean of Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing. Hendricks said she has known McKay since she was on campus working toward her nursing degree. They have worked together on numerous projects in the years since.
“Words can’t even express how proud I am of this designation,” said McKay upon presentation of the award last week.
Hendricks said McKay is an amazing nursing leader and embodies the spirit of IU Kokomo in innovation and collaboration.
“We are proud to have Ronda leading our dedicated group of outstanding nurses and caregivers,” said Lou Molina, Community Hospital CEO.
