Correction Officer Arrested for Allegedly Trafficking Tobacco Products

Westville – During a routine search of staff coming on duty on Sunday, January 12, 2020 contraband, which was a tobacco product, was discovered concealed in the property of Officer Mishael Crawford. As a result of this discovery, Crawford was detained and later interviewed by Correctional Police Officers.

Crawford was placed under arrested and transported to the LaPorte County Jail where he was booked for Official Misconduct, a Level 6 Felony, as well as Trafficking with an Inmate, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Warden John Galipeau commented, “Any staff member found bringing contraband into the facility will be arrested and referred for prosecution.”
