County Council Recognizes Whiting Woman

On November 9th 2021, The Lake County Council passed a resolution proclaiming the month of November as Indiana Working Women’s Month & Recognizing Rebeca Michko. This resolution commends all hardworking women that have made contributions to further the growth & strength of Indiana.

Rebeca Michko, a Whiting High School graduate & Whiting resident, has made many countless contributions to her community & has touched many lives. Rebeca has served on the Whiting City Council since 2003, has been President of the Whiting Planning Commission for the last five years & is also founder of “Whiting Cares” a St. Baldrick’s event that has raised over $170,000.00 for children’s cancer research.

Along with owning her salon, Rebeca’s Hair Care, which she opened in 1990, she has also volunteered for the Whiting Chamber & food pantry during the pandemic shutdown & is co-founder of Whiting’s Empanada Fest coming next year. Rebeca is the epitome of hard work, generosity & dedication. All women who have made Lake County & the state of Indiana a more positive place should be acknowledged.
