Crown Point Man Accused of Pulling Gun on Driver for Speeding and Doing Donuts in Parking Lot
CROWN POINT – According to court documents, on October 23, 2025, at approximately 8:49 p.m., Crown Point Police were dispatched to Elizabeth Drive and East Street for a report of a reckless driver. A man, identified as Sean O’Connor, 45, told police that a white Ford F-150 was driving up and down East Street at a high rate of speed and doing donuts in the parking lot of the Crown Point School Administration building. O’Connor showed officers a photo of the truck’s license plate. Police did not see the truck driving at that time but later observed it parked in a driveway.
At approximately 9:07 p.m., dispatch advised that a gun had been pulled on a male near the same location about 20 minutes earlier. The reporting party stated that after driving through the area and doing a donut in the parking lot, they encountered a man standing in the street who was wearing a black jacket, red shirt, and white jeans. The man allegedly pulled out a dark-colored revolver and pointed it toward their vehicle multiple times while exchanging words with the occupants of the truck.
The reporting party showed police a video of the incident in which O’Connor was observed standing in the middle of the street holding a black revolver pointed at the ground. He then raised the revolver toward the truck several times before eventually putting it into his pocket and moving out of the road.
O’Connor was located nearby. He denied pointing a gun but was found with two loaded handguns — a black Smith & Wesson .38 revolver in his right pocket and a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard pistol in the other. Police also noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. O’Connor was placed in hand restraints and transported to the Lake County Jail without incident.
