Crown Point Man Charged After Report of Sexual Misconduct With a Minor at Crown Point Art Studio
Thomas Arthur Liubakka, 67, of Crown Point, has been charged after a report regarding alleged sexual contact involving a minor, according to charging documents filed in Lake County.
According to court documents, police were contacted in September 2025 regarding a report from a minor who disclosed that an incident had occurred at Liubakka Studio, located near the 200 block of South Main Street in Crown Point, during the fall of 2024. The affidavit states that the minor reported being led to an upstairs portion of the building during an art lesson, where a door was locked, and inappropriate touching occurred over clothing before the suspect walked away. The minor reported feeling frightened and did not initially disclose the full details until being interviewed later, according to charging documents.
The affidavit indicates that a forensic interview was conducted, during which the minor described earlier classes in which she was the only student and stated that physical contact had occurred during those sessions as well. Charging documents state that the reporting process began after the minor disclosed the information to a school employee, prompting involvement from authorities.
According to the affidavit, the suspect later met voluntarily with police and denied the allegations.
