
Crown Point man charged in Hammond Home Depot thefts
According to court documents, a Crown Point man has been charged in Lake County after a series of thefts at the Home Depot in Hammond.
Dustin Lee Musgrave, 37, was formally charged on September 3, 2025, following an investigation by the Hammond Police Department.
On August 9, 2025, officers were dispatched to an active shoplifting call at the Home Depot located at 1624 165th Street in Hammond. Loss prevention staff and video surveillance identified Musgrave as the suspect. Court records state he exited the store around 10:47 a.m. with electrical wire valued at $1,126.39.
Investigators also linked Musgrave to earlier thefts at the same store, including:
• July 17, 2025: three rolls of black wire valued at $1,107.00
• July 26, 2025: two rolls of black wire valued at $1,031.80
• August 3, 2025: three rolls of red wire valued at $1,695.00
The court document notes that Musgrave was identified through video footage, his license profile, and a vehicle plate number recorded by store staff.
Charges filed
• Theft (four counts) – Level 6 Felony
Musgrave is lodged in the Lake County Jail.
