Crown Point Man Shot After Altercation
On the night of March 23rd in the 900 block of 28th Ave in Lake Station, around 10PM, there was an altercation between two males that resulted in a 36 year old male of Crown Point suffering from a gun shot wound, according to Lake Station Police Chief James Richardson.
An Officer reported that when he arrived on scene, the gunshot victim was screaming, “He shot me, he shot me”. The Officer reported that the shooter now identified as David Walker shouted, “You keep stalking us” to which the gunshot victim replied to Walker by saying, “I don’t even know you”.
During the course of the investigation police learned that during the evening the gunshot victim was out on a date with a female companion when an altercation ensued between him and the female companion, she then exited the vehicle and walked the rest of the way home.
The gunshot victim stated that he drove to where she resides on the 900 block of 28th Ave and saw the female in the window of the residence. The gunshot victim stated that when he saw the female, he exited his vehicle. The gunshot victim stated that is when David Walker exited his residence and stated, “I’m gonna shoot you bitch”. The gunshot victim stated that Walker then fired one round and went back inside the residence. The first round missed, police said. The gunshot victim stated that Walker exited the residence again and fired another round at him striking him in the chest.
Walker reported to police that he has had problems with the individual for years, harassing him and threatening him. Walker stated that he was concerned for his safety when he realized who the individual was and saw him approaching his home.
David Walker has been charged with the following:
Aggravated Battery Level 3 Felony
Battery by Means of Deadly Weapon Level 5 Felony
Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury Level 5 Felony.
