
Crown Point Woman Charged In Porter County Retail Theft
A Crown Point woman is facing felony theft charges in Porter County after police say she attempted to leave a store with more than $1,100 worth of merchandise.
According to court documents, on September 24, 2025, Portage police responded to a retail theft complaint at a Walgreens on Central Avenue. Witnesses reported that Danielle Rene Gulik, 47, filled a store basket and two personal bags with laundry items, cosmetics, perishables, and other assorted goods before walking past all points of sale without attempting to pay.
Police documented that the value of the merchandise was $1,188.81. After checking her criminal history, investigators learned Gulik has a prior unrelated conviction for theft or conversion in Lake County in 2024.
