Dive Team Search Ongoing At Marquette Park
On July 9, 2020 approximately 5:09 PM the Gary Police Department responded to Marquette Beach for a call of a child in the water, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of the Gary Police.
A multiagency search is ongoing at this time including, Lake County Sheriff, DNR, Portage Dive Teams, Coast Guard, Lake County Dive Team, Merrillville Fire, Crown Point Fire, Chesterton Dive Team, Burns Harbor Fire, Porter Fire, Gary Police, and Gary Fire Department

Update the child did not survive and was recovered at 6:24pm.
