Domestic Stabbing After Personal Repo Attempt

Gary Police are investigating the stabbing of a 43-year-old man from South Holland.

On February 7, at approximately 9:55 AM, police spoke with the victim at Northlake Methodist Hospital. The victim told police that he was visiting a food truck while at work at 1 N. Buchanan when he noticed that his ex-girlfriend was entering his white Chevy Tahoe. He told police that when he confronted her she exited the truck armed with his pocket knife. The victim said that the ex-girlfriend cut him on his left index finger when he approached her. When he attempted to detain her he states that she stabbed him in the neck and fled the area after jumping over a barrier to the property. The victim was taken to the hospital by medics. He was then transferred to another hospital for further treatment.

While at the hospital the Gary Officers also spoke to a Riverdale woman, age 39, who admitted to being the ex-girlfriend. She was being hospitalized following the incident as well. The woman told police that she went to the location with her sister to take possession of the Tahoe which she claimed to own. She states that her ex-boyfriend saw her in the truck and approached it. However, she was unable to start the vehicle so she exited the truck. She told police that as she was walking away the ex pulled a knife on her and they began to scuffle over the knife. She told the officers that she cut her finger on the knife and fell to the ground. At that point the ex-boyfriend jumped on top of her but she managed to escape and had her sister take her to the hospital because she is six months pregnant.

This case is being investigated by Det. O. Vasquez (219) 881-1210.
