
Drug Investigation Leads to Two Arrests & Felony Charges On Mississippi
On April 9, 2025, Hobart Police Narcotics Unit investigators served a search warrant in the 7200 block of Mississippi Street in Hobart as part of an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation, according to Hobart Police.
Investigators learned of an individual dealing various quantities of methamphetamine out of the residence and after their investigation, a search warrant was granted and methamphetamine and other narcotics were recovered from the home.
The following two individuals were arrested and subsequently charged in Lake County Superior Court:
Tyler Cofield (35 years old) of Hobart
- One count of Dealing Methamphetamine, a Level 2 Felony
- One count of Dealing Methamphetamine, a Level 4 Felony
- One count of Neglect of a Dependent, a Level 5 Felony
- One count of Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Level 5 Felony
- One count of Dealing a Schedule I Controlled Substance, a Level 6 Felony
- One count of Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Level 6 Felony
- One count of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony
- One count of Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor
Michael Freville (39 years old) of Hobart
- One count of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony
- One count of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony
- One count of Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor
The investigation continues and more charges may be forthcoming, Hobart Police said. Hobart Code Enforcement is also investigating due to numerous city ordinance violations at the property.
